Hollowell Mitigation Bank
North Carolina
Watershed
HUC 03020201/Neuse 01
Pre-Construction
Hollowell is a mitigation bank located in the Inner Coastal Plain Physiographic Province within the Neuse 01 Watershed (HUC 03020201). The project provides stream and wetland mitigation credits to compensate for unavoidable impacts to waters of the United States authorized under Sections 401 and 404 of the Clean Water Act and Section 10 of the Rivers and Harbors Act. Additionally, the bank provides nutrient and buffer credits in accordance with the state’s Nutrient Offset and Consolidated Buffer Mitigation Rule.
The project provides floodplain connection to incised stream reaches by lowering stream bank height, increased native riparian buffer and wetland species density and richness within stream floodplains, improved stream bedform diversity, and results in the aquatic species diversity and abundance through the addition of in-stream cover and woody debris.
